Senior Trip Marks 10th Year

This year marked the 10^th anniversary for the Senior Trip! Returning to Seattle the 34 Montana State students visited top design firms, advertising agencies and in-house design departments. The long list included Teague, Ames Bros, Wexley School for Girls, Creature, Possible, Square Tomato, Starbucks, K2 Skis, Ride Snowboards, Microsoft and Eddie Bauer. Once again Jack and Barb Anderson at Hornall Anderson hosted an exceptional reception for the MSU students and Seattle alumni. Next year we have our sites set on Denver and Boulder…hope to see you there!

2012 National ADDY Winners

Montana State students rocked the 2012 National ADDY Award Competition.  Winners brought home 2 Gold ADDYs and 2 Silver ADDYs. Shown from left to right: Nikki Simon received a Silver ADDY for Poster Design, Bret Sander was awarded a Gold ADDY for Editorial Design Series, Vanessa Swenson received a Gold ADDY for Illustration and Carson Wiser won a Silver ADDY for Editorial Design Series. The AAF Student ADDY Awards Competition is a unique national awards program designed specially for college students. These 4 MSU students' work was entered at the state level, then moved up to the regional level and finally to the last level of national judging.

2012 Northwest ADDY Awards

Once again the Graphic Design students from Montana State University demonstrated their creative skills by bringing home 3 Gold ADDY Awards and 11 Silver ADDY Awards from the 2012 Northwest ADDY Awards Competition. The district competition held this time in Boise, Idaho is the middle level of a three-tiered national competition where students compete against 5 Western states and 2 Canadian Provinces.

Magazine Internships at Time, Inc.

Congratulations to Dominique Fultz and Brian Abbott, both seniors in the MSU Graphic Design program who spent the summer interning in New York at Time, Inc. Shown here in front of the Time & Life building in midtown Manhattan, each student spent 2 months working for one of Time's award-winning publications. Dominique spent her summer at People magazine while Brian was interning for Money magazine. Their wonderful internship opportunities were prizes for placing in the top 10 of the Society of Publication Designers 2012 Student Design Contest.

This Saturday is the AIGA San Diego Portfolio Review. If you are planning to be in portfolio in 2013 it would give you a great head start to see what this dynamic event is all about. It’s all about getting you a job or transferring to the school of your dreams. Your portfolio is what makes it happen!

You can view the finished portfolios from members of this year’s portfolio class. It’s your chance to hear direct from them what the experience of portfolio and the portfolio review was like. While it is still fresh in their minds they can tell you what worked for them and what didn’t. Not only will this event be fun and fascinating it will give you valuable information to propel your own work in portfolio.

2011 Montana Student Addy Awards

This year the MSU Graphic Design students dominated the Montana Addy competition receiving 9 Gold awards, 27 Silver awards and one Best of Show. All of the student winners from the state competition will be forwarded to the AAF District Xl Student Addy competition in April where their work will compete with other colleges and universities from Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington and the Canadian Provinces of British Columbia and Alberta.
